Top Ten Books at the Top of My Summer TBR Pile

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

City of Ashes and City of Glass by Cassandra Clare - I would like to finish books 2-5 of the TMI series before the movie comes out, but I have so many books I want to read that I don't know if I'll get to all of them. So, I'll just aim for books 2 and 3.

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
Prodigy by Marie Lu
Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
The Iron Thorn by Caitlin Kittredge
Both of these books have been sitting on my shelf for way too long.

Icons by Margaret Stohl
Ink by Amanda Sun
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
Seven Minutes in Heaven (The Lying Game #6) by Sara Shepard

Lost and Found by Nicole Williams

Book: Lost and Found (Lost and Found #1)
Author: Nicole Williams
# of Pages: 348 (ebook)
Challenges: 2013 Contemporary Challenge, 2013 Ebook Challenge
Rating: 4.5 stars

Goodreads Summary:
There’s complicated. And there’s Rowen Sterling.

After numbing pain for the past five years with boys, alcohol, and all-around apathy, she finds herself on a Greyhound bus to nowhere Montana the summer after she graduates high school. Her mom agreed to front the bill to Rowen’s dream art school only if Rowen proves she can work hard and stay out of trouble at Willow Springs Ranch. Cooking breakfast at the crack of dawn for a couple dozen ranch hands and mucking out horse stalls are the last things in the world Rowen wants to spend her summer doing.

Until Jesse Walker saunters into her life wearing a pair of painted-on jeans, a cowboy hat, and a grin that makes something in her chest she’d thought was frozen go boom-boom. Jesse’s like no one else, and certainly nothing like her. He’s the bright and shiny to her dark and jaded.

Rowen knows there’s no happily-ever-after for the golden boy and the rebel girl—happily-right-now is a stretch—so she tries to forget and ignore the boy who makes her feel things she’s not sure she’s ready to feel. But the more she pushes him away, the closer he seems to get. The more she convinces herself she doesn’t care, the harder she falls.

When her dark secrets refuse to stay locked behind the walls she’s kept up for years, Rowen realizes it’s not just everyone else she needs to be honest with. It’s herself.

My Thoughts:

Lost and Found by Nicole Williams took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to smack the crap out of a couple of the characters.

Rowen is sarcastic and haunted by her past. Jesse is sweet and generous and absolutely lovable. Besides Rowen and Jesse, one of my favorite characters was Rose Walker, Jesse's mother. Funny, kind, and understanding, I think that she ranks just as high as Mrs. Weasley when it comes to literary mothers.

There was only one thing that I did not like about the book. There were a couple times when Rowen listed the things that she did, and I would have liked to see them played out. I also would have liked to see more of the ranch.

Overall, Lost and Found was an enjoyable read. I am really looking forward to the sequel, which will be out in July. And I will be checking out Nicole Williams's other books.
